For domestic cleaning in Ealing, one cleaner comes every week at £23 an hour or every fortnight at £24, for at least 3 hours, working with the vacuum, mop and sprays your household already owns.

Ealing splits almost evenly. 49.5% of its 133,657 households lived in flats at the 2021 Census, and about a quarter of those flats were in a house someone had divided up (12.7% of all households). Valuation Office counts give 30.1% of the borough’s homes to 1919 to 1939, 22.9% to the 1930s alone. One cleaner might do a converted Victorian flat by Ealing Common on a Monday and a semi in Greenford on the Tuesday, and the two jobs differ in hours and in access.

Hours, water and what to keep in an Ealing home

The 3-hour minimum covers a one-bedroom flat with one bathroom. A two-bedroom conversion or a three-bedroom semi with a single bathroom usually wants four, and a bigger house over three floors five. The opening visit is a trial billed at £26 an hour; your normal hourly rate begins with visit two. On a regular booking the cleaner turns up with nothing, so the hoover, a mop and bucket, cloths and sprays need to be in the house already.

Two water companies supply Ealing. Affinity Water serves Southall, Greenford and Northolt, and its checker gives 277 to 304 mg/l for the four postcodes looked up there, hard or very hard on its scale; Thames Water serves the W13 side, where 2025 samples in its two zones averaged 266 and 274 mg/l. Put a limescale remover on the shopping list next to the washing-up liquid, for the taps, shower screen and kettle.

Ealing’s 63 parking zones and when a cleaner arrives

Ealing’s parking pages list 63 controlled zones, and their hours have little in common. Central Ealing’s Zone A is the strict one: on weekdays it starts at 8.30am, finishing at 7.30pm from Monday to Thursday and running on to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, with Sunday control from 10am to 4pm. Ealing Broadway’s Zone W is enforced for two single hours on weekdays, nine to ten in the morning and three to four in the afternoon, so a visit from ten until one falls between the zone’s controlled hours.

Residents buy visitor sessions through PayByPhone. They are valid in permit-holder bays for a vehicle under 1.83 metres wide and 3 metres high. A regular cleaner who comes by bus has no parking to pay. Deep clean and move-out teams bring equipment, so if they drive, any parking they pay for is added at cost, never more than £40.

Shared houses, licences and moving out in Ealing

Private renters are 34.0% of Ealing households. Since 1 April 2022 every shared home in the borough with three or four unrelated occupiers has needed an additional HMO licence. Selective licensing for single-household lets started on that same date in three wards, East Acton and the two Southall wards of Broadway and Green, and in January 2023 it spread to a dozen more, Acton Central and Perivale among them. From 14 November 2025, planning permission became necessary nearly everywhere in Ealing to convert a family home into a small HMO.

In a shared house the communal kitchen and bathroom decide how long the weekly visit runs. Moving out is a fixed-price job sized by bedrooms, £243 for a two-bed, and the end of tenancy clean team brings its own equipment and products. A 50% deposit holds that date, something regular cleaning never asks for.

Domestic cleaning in Acton

Flats hold 66.9% of households across Acton’s four wards, and Acton Gardens has added more. It is L&Q and Countryside’s rebuild of the South Acton Estate, which added 2,098 homes from 2012 to 2024 for rent, sale and shared ownership; the estate it replaced, almost 2,100 council homes mostly in towers, had been one of the biggest in west London. If your block has a fob or a door code, give the office that and the flat number when you book. A one or two-bedroom new-build is usually a 3-hour weekly job.

Older Acton is close by. Mill Hill Park, the walled estate William Willett started in 1877, keeps its Italianate terraces and Arts and Crafts villas on Avenue Crescent, Avenue Gardens and Heathfield Road, and Acton Green has Victorian terraces and turn-of-the-century mansion flats around its common. Parking swings between zones. Acton Central’s Zone K holds for a full working day on weekdays, half past nine to half past five, whereas the South Acton Estate’s Zone SA bites for just two hours, nine to ten and two to three, so domestic cleaners who drive there and work from ten until one fall between them.

Domestic cleaning in Ealing Broadway

Many Haven Green houses stand three floors high over a half basement, faced in yellow stock brick and stucco. Building took off from the 1870s, a few decades after the railway reached Ealing in 1838. That is four levels for one cleaner and one vacuum, so a whole house runs to five hours or more, and a spare set of cloths and spray kept on the top floor saves trips up and down. The Ealing Common appraisal records many family houses divided into flats, with brick bin stores built in their front gardens. Across the two wards 66.0% of households live in flats and 26.0% in a flat in a converted house.

Shared stairs in a conversion take the most traffic. Weekly hoovering keeps a carpeted flight in order, and when it needs more, a carpet clean by hot water extraction costs £41 a flight on a visit of at least £67. Neither the Ealing Broadway nor the Ealing Common ward is named in Ealing’s selective designations, so an ordinary let to one household in central W5 does without that licence. Fortnightly domestic cleaning, at £24 an hour, suits a flat here that stays tidy between visits.

Domestic cleaning in Greenford

Semis house 31.2% of Greenford households, more than any other area on this page. Greenford also gets some of Ealing’s hardest water: UB6 9RU reads 304 mg/l on Affinity Water’s checker, past its very hard line, and UB5 4LH in Central Greenford 291. Water that hard leaves scale on the bath, basin, shower and kitchen taps. Leave a descaler with the products for the cleaner, and if the shower screen has turned cloudy, book a deep clean first: a pair of cleaners at £28 each per hour, with £30 added for equipment, takes the limescale back so the weekly visit only has to hold it there.

Zone Q, by Greenford station, is enforced for an hour each weekday from ten in the morning and again from two in the afternoon, which is easy to plan around. Greenford Broadway, Greenford Green and North Greenford all sit in the second selective licensing designation. Greenford’s first factory, William Henry Perkin’s, opened beside the Grand Union Canal in 1857, and the Canalside conservation area appraisal now also records new homes along the water, part of the round for domestic cleaners in UB6.

Domestic cleaning in Hanwell

The London County Council began the Cuckoo Estate in 1933 and finished it by 1939, one of its last cottage estates. Its houses are red brick and two storeys, terraced or semi-detached under hipped clay tile roofs, grouped around grassed corners with hooped railings. A two-storey cottage house there is usually a 3 to four-hour weekly visit. Ironing can go on the end as extra time, priced by the office on the call, or be booked on its own through the ironing service.

Hanwell slices the parking day three ways. The town centre zone, HTC, covers nine till six from Monday to Saturday. Hanwell Station’s H1 has three one-hour slots on weekdays, morning, afternoon and early evening, while Old Hanwell’s OH has two-hour blocks starting at eight, at one and at six. Check which one covers your road before a team drives over. Hobbayne, the old ward holding the Cuckoo Estate and Hanwell Village Green, is in the second selective licensing designation; Elthorne, around the 1937 clock tower, is not. Regular domestic cleaning in W7 depends on a cleaner covering your street, which the office checks when you ring.

Domestic cleaning in Northolt

The A40 divides Northolt. North of Western Avenue most housing dates from the 1920s and 1930s and is privately owned. South of it, along Kensington Road and Ruislip Road, the homes are mostly social housing from the 1960s and 1970s, and the Racecourse Estate went up on the old pony-racing ground between 1951 and 1955. Social renting reaches 27.7% of households, the highest of the seven areas here. A 1930s semi north of the road usually takes four hours a fortnight; a flat south of it fits 3.

Moving into one of these homes is a good moment for a one-off clean before regular domestic cleaning starts. Two cleaners bring their own products, charged at £26 an hour each with £30 for kit, from £186. Affinity Water supplies Northolt, and UB5 5AP in Northolt West End reads 277 mg/l, hard on its scale. Zone QQ is unusual: its controls apply from nine in the morning to nine at night, seven days a week, but only on a few streets such as Brighton Drive and Goodwood Drive. Ordinary lets in Northolt Mandeville and Northolt West End need a selective licence under the 2023 designation.

Domestic cleaning in Southall

Zone L, around Southall town centre on streets such as Abbotts Road and Beaconsfield Road, is one of Ealing’s longest: enforced until 8pm every day, from 10am Monday to Saturday and from 2pm on Sundays. The extended zones V and LL finish at 6pm, starting at half past eight on weekdays and Saturdays and at two on Sundays, so even residential side streets carry Sunday afternoon restrictions. For a cleaner who drives to a Sunday afternoon visit, a household in these zones can buy a visitor session through PayByPhone, and any parking is added at cost, never more than £40.

Four Southall wards are in selective licensing, Southall Broadway and Southall Green first in April 2022 and then Lady Margaret and Dormers Wells nine months later. A third of households rent privately (33.5%), and when a tenancy ends the move-out clean can take in the carpets as well: £29 for each bedroom, £36 for the lounge. Terraces (31.5%) and semis (24.9%) make up most of the houses. Domestic cleaning for a Southall terrace usually means 3 to four hours a week, with the household’s own kit, and a descaler for the hard Affinity water, 279 mg/l at UB1 2AN.

Domestic cleaning in West Ealing

15.2% of households in Walpole and Pitshanger wards, the basis for this section, live in converted-house flats, more than the borough’s 12.7%, and 24.0% live in terraces. The St Stephen’s conservation area centres on The Avenue and North Avenue: Edwardian houses built in small groups with oriel windows, iron balconies, timber porches and turrets around the former St Stephen’s Church, itself turned into flats in the 1980s. Turret rooms and window bays take longer to dust than square rooms, so allow four hours for a three-bedroom house there.

If those bays carry long curtains, a curtain clean is £42 a pair, and a two-seat sofa £57, with one-off work starting at £67; see sofa and curtain cleaning. Thames Water’s lookup puts W13 9DA, south of the Broadway, in its Ealing Southwest zone (2025 mean 274 mg/l) and W13 0NA, north of the railway, in Ealing North (mean 266). Parking hours differ from zone to zone, from Zone H, a weekday office-hours zone, to Zone JJ in Ealing Dean, enforced for an hour from ten and another from three. Domestic cleaners for West Ealing are booked by the hour.

Questions about domestic cleaning in Ealing

Why does parking for a cleaner change so much between Ealing streets?

Ealing runs 63 controlled parking zones and sets the hours zone by zone, from long controls in central Ealing to zones restricted for one or two short sessions on weekdays. A household in a zone can buy a visitor session through PayByPhone for a cleaner who drives. Where the team pays for parking itself, that amount is added at cost, never more than £40.

Which parts of Ealing need a selective licence for a let?

Ealing’s selective licensing names wards as they were before May 2022: three from 1 April 2022 and twelve more from 3 January 2023, among them Hobbayne, Perivale, Hanger Hill and both Northolt wards. Because the old and new ward lines differ, the council’s postcode checker settles a street near an edge. Shared homes with three or four unrelated occupiers need an additional HMO licence wherever they are in the borough.

Where can I take an old carpet or mattress before a move-out clean in Ealing?

Ealing’s reuse and recycling centre on Greenford Road, UB6 9AP, accepts carpets and underlay from residents at no charge if they are sorted and ID is shown, and up to two mattresses free every 12 months. Book a slot first; it does not open to the public on Wednesday or Thursday. Clearing them out leaves the floors open for the move-out team.

How do payment and notice work for a regular cleaner in Ealing?

Hand the cleaner payment at the end of the visit, or take a monthly invoice from the office; no deposit is asked. Four settling-in weeks come first, and past those either side can stop with 14 days’ notice. If you call off a visit with fewer than two working days to go, half its price is charged. Every rate is on the prices page, and whether a regular cleaner works in your postcode is something the office answers when you ring.
