Hounslow households book domestic cleaning by the hour: £23 for a weekly slot, £24 for a fortnightly slot, 3 hours or more a visit, with the household supplying the products and kit.
Nearly half of Hounslow’s 102,961 households (45.8%) live in a flat, most of those in blocks built as flats, and the rest are mainly semis and terraces; detached houses are rare, under one household in twenty. Renting is common. Three in ten households have a private landlord and about one in five rent from a social landlord. For a regular cleaner that means many flats, where the kitchen and the bathroom take most of the visit, and a fair number of inter-war semis where the stairs and the bedrooms do.
Homes in Hounslow and the hours they take
A one-bedroom flat is a 3-hour visit, and that is the shortest we book. In a flat-share of three or four, the hours go on the shared kitchen, the bathroom and the hall; bedrooms are left out unless the tenants ask for them. A three-bed semi in Hounslow West or Feltham takes four hours, a little more with a second toilet. The cleaner uses whatever the household keeps: vacuum, mop and bucket, cloths, sprays for the kitchen and bathroom and a limescale remover, which matters here because every Hounslow postcode checked with either water supplier comes back hard. Start with a trial visit at £26 an hour. If it works, weekly or fortnightly cleaning carries on at £23 or £24 an hour, with no deposit, and after a four-week settling-in period either side can end it on 14 days’ notice.
Parking and loading for cleaners in Hounslow
Hounslow’s visitor permits are still applied for on paper. Residents in a controlled zone fill in a form, each permit carries 30 one-hour sessions, and ten permits in 12 months is the limit. Newer homes can be the exception: the council says a planning condition or legal agreement keeps some of them, mostly new builds, out of the permit scheme altogether. Deep-clean and one-off teams bring equipment and boxes of products. Forty minutes on a single or double yellow line is allowed unless a loading ban is signed, and a resident or pay-to-park bay can be used for however long the unloading lasts. Just over 4,800 spaces can be paid through PayByPhone. You pay back the cleaner’s parking at the price it cost, £40 at the very most.
Renting, sharing and moving out in Hounslow
Hounslow licenses shared homes right across the borough. From 11 December 2025 to 10 December 2030, a let to three or more people who are not one household needs an additional HMO licence, while five or more sharers stay on the national mandatory licence. An Article 4 direction, in force from 4 September 2023, also requires planning permission before a family house becomes a small HMO. The cleaning side stays simple. Size sets the price of an end of tenancy clean: £207 for one bedroom, £339 for three, and from £31 more for the oven. Half the price, paid as a deposit, books the date, and the cleaners come with everything they use. Tenants who are staying can book a cleaner by the hour from the next week.
Domestic cleaning in Brentford
Brentford is flat territory. Across Brentford East, Brentford West and Syon & Brentford Lock, 66.8% of households lived in a flat at the 2021 Census, and 28.5% were social tenants. Some of those blocks are tall. The council’s St Paul’s appraisal lists what came after 1945: a wider High Street, the raised M4, the docks closing and six 25-storey blocks of homes. In a tower flat the cleaner rides the lift with the household’s vacuum, so tell the office the floor number and how to get through the entrance door. Beside the canal, Brentford Lock West was planned with the Canal & River Trust: 520 homes on a 6.4-hectare site, and its second phase (157 flats and townhouses) was done by the end of 2018. A canal-side two-bed is a 3-hour weekly visit. Older homes stand round The Butts, made a conservation area in November 1968, where the first of its mostly three-storey houses went up around 1670. TW8 0JJ comes up in Thames Water’s Brentford zone on its lookup, mean 275 mg/l, so domestic cleaning in Brentford wants a descaler for the taps and glass.
Domestic cleaning in Chiswick
One Chiswick household in six (16.0%) has a flat inside a converted or shared house, two and a half times the Hounslow rate, and 57.2% have a flat of some kind. The housing runs from the three-storey terraces of the High Road, where building took off with the railway in the 1880s, to the plain artisan terraces of the Glebe estate (1868 to 1901). In a converted terrace, a flat at the top can mean stairs for a one-off team carrying its kit, while a regular cleaner works with the vacuum kept in the flat. Bedford Park, begun in 1875, is different: the houses were built without basements, all surviving first-phase buildings are listed, and an Article 4(2) direction of 2001 tightens the rules. Bedford Park also crosses a borough line, with the western sides of The Avenue and Woodstock Road in Ealing, so check which council’s parking rules your cleaner meets. Domestic cleaning in Chiswick can be fortnightly for a one-bed conversion, with an oven clean (from £77 for a single) booked separately.
Domestic cleaning in Feltham
Feltham grew late. The railway arrived in 1848, yet the council’s appraisal places most of the building in the late 1930s and the post-war years; the place grew after the First World War around the railway’s marshalling yard and factories making aircraft and trams. In the 2000s the town centre was redeveloped wholesale. Today about a third of households in the three Feltham wards live in semis (32.5%), a quarter in terraces and 36.2% in flats, including the 1970s New Chapel Square flats, inside the conservation area around Feltham Green and the town centre. A post-war semi with one bathroom is a four-hour visit; a New Chapel Square flat, 3. Feltham is on Affinity Water, which records 280 mg/l for its Feltham zone and 277 mg/l at TW13 4ES, hard by its own scale, so keep a limescale remover with the bathroom products. Hanworth Park, a grass airfield in two spells up to 1947, is now a conservation area. Domestic cleaning across TW13 and TW14 starts with a phone call, when the office tells you whether a regular cleaner works your way.
Domestic cleaning in Hounslow
The five Hounslow wards rent more than any other area on this page: 39.7% of their households had a private landlord in 2021, and 43.1% lived in flats. In Hounslow West the council’s appraisal finds two-storey houses, terraced and semi-detached, mostly from between the wars or just after, trading estates on the western side and aircraft noise from Heathrow bad enough to have prompted local sound-proofing schemes. A flat-share in one of those houses has one kitchen working for three or four people, and a weekly 3-hour visit spent mainly there and in the bathroom keeps it fair for everyone. St Stephen’s conservation area is older: late Victorian detached houses and semis on St Stephen’s Road, laid out in 1880 by W Hanley, and around it the appraisal describes small, narrow terraces to the north-east and big inter-war houses with deep gardens further east. Thames Water’s lookup puts TW3 1AA in its Whitton zone at a mean of 257 mg/l. Note that TW4 crosses into Richmond’s Heathfield ward. If a party has left its mark on a shared house, an after party clean can be booked as a one-off, and regular domestic cleaning picks up from the following week.
Domestic cleaning in Isleworth
Isleworth Riverside is Hounslow’s largest conservation area, designated in 1972 and extended in 1993. The street pattern is medieval (Church Street, Mill Plat, North Street and South Street) and the oldest buildings are 15th century. Sitting by the Thames, with the Crane and the Duke of Northumberland’s River running through, the area has flooding on the council’s list of threats. An older riverside house there may keep its original floors; tell the office before the first visit, and keep the right products for them. Just over half of Isleworth households (51.7%) live in flats, nearly all in blocks built for them, 29.2% in terraced houses, and 26.8% are social tenants. A two-bedroom flat is 3 hours. All five ward postcodes checked with Thames Water’s lookup fall in its Syon Park zone, mean 264 mg/l, so taps and shower glass need a descaler. For a weekly clean, domestic cleaners in Isleworth work on your products; for a move, the team brings its own.
Domestic cleaning in Osterley
Osterley Park has been a conservation area since April 1988; Robert Adam remodelled Osterley House there for the Child family, and it is Grade I listed and owned by the National Trust. South of the park, the Great West Road had by the 1930s brought building on a massive scale, Jersey Gardens among it, and in 1965 the M4 cut across the estate’s northern land. Spring Grove, in the same ward, was Henry Daniel Davies’s Victorian villa estate, close to 300 acres, begun in the 1850s, and in 1893 Andrew Pears rebuilt Spring Grove House itself. Osterley & Spring Grove ward is a ward of semis (36.8%) and private lets (35.1%), with social renting at only 6.7%. A 1930s semi there is four hours of domestic cleaning a week. When a let changes hands, a deep clean between tenancies is booked by the hour; if the sofa came with the let, upholstery cleaning is £57 for two seats, on a visit of at least £67. Thames Water’s lookup puts TW7 4QZ and TW7 5LD in its Brentford zone, mean 275 mg/l.
Questions about domestic cleaning in Hounslow
My address is W4. Which council’s parking rules apply to my cleaner?
It depends on the street. Besides Hounslow’s three Chiswick wards, W4 reaches into parts of Ealing (Southfield ward) and of Hammersmith and Fulham (Ravenscourt ward), and whichever council runs your road sets its parking, waste and licensing rules. Any parking cost the cleaner pays is added at cost, up to £40.
Can a cleaning team unload on a yellow line in Hounslow?
Yes, within limits. Unless the kerb or a sign bans loading, a team can stop on yellow lines for up to forty minutes to carry the kit in, and a resident or pay-to-park bay can be used for the whole unload. The car then moves to a proper space for the rest of the clean.
What if a stain on the carpet happens between visits?
Blot it and do not rub. Use cold water first; the stain removal guide has home first aid for coffee, wine and the rest, and says when to leave a mark for a carpet clean. Tell your regular cleaner on the next visit so it is not scrubbed in a hurry.
Is a regular cleaner available in my part of Hounslow?
Not every postcode has a regular cleaner free, so the office checks on the call, whether you are in TW3 by the town centre, TW7 in Isleworth or TW13 in Feltham. Part of TW4 is in Richmond’s Heathfield ward, which the office also checks. Where a cleaner is free, we keep the same one on your home where we can.
