Domestic cleaning in Haringey is one cleaner on a regular slot, paid by the hour at £23 weekly or £24 fortnightly, for 3 hours or more, using the equipment you keep at home.
More than half of Haringey’s housing is older than 1919. Valuation Office counts for 2025 put 54.0% of its 114,960 homes before that year and 36.5% before 1900, against 12.6% built from 2000 on. Plenty of those houses have since been divided: by the 2021 Census more than one Haringey household in five (22.8%) lived in a flat carved out of a house, and flats of every kind reached 61.0%. Private renting swings from ward to ward, with half of Harringay ward’s households (50.2%) renting privately against barely a fifth (21.3%) in Alexandra Park.
Old houses, converted flats and cleaning hours in Haringey
The shortest visit, 3 hours, suits a converted one-bedroom flat and costs £69 at the weekly rate. A two-bedroom conversion with a bigger kitchen takes 3 to four. A whole Edwardian house of four bedrooms over three floors needs five hours or so. The opening session is billed as a trial, £26 an hour, and shows both sides how much work there is before the regular rate starts.
Keep the cleaning things at home, because the cleaner uses your vacuum, mop and bucket, cloths and products on every regular visit and brings none. Thames Water’s report notes that water in its region is naturally hard from passing through chalk, and its lookup puts N22 7EX in Wood Green in its Haringey West zone, where four 2025 samples averaged 263 mg/l. A bottle of descaler helps keep the taps and shower glass from clouding. The cleaner takes payment at the end of the visit; a monthly invoice from the office is the alternative, and no deposit is asked.
Haringey’s licensing and the end of a lease
Private renters make up 35.6% of Haringey households, close to the share who own (37.2%). In 14 wards most private lets have needed a selective licence from 17 November 2022, under a scheme that ends on 17 November 2027. A separate designation, in force from 17 June 2024, licenses houses in multiple occupation that fall outside the mandatory scheme, anywhere in Haringey. Crouch End, Highgate, Hornsey and Muswell Hill wards are not on the selective list; Harringay, Noel Park, Woodside and the Tottenham wards are.
At the end of a lease the price is set by bedrooms, £243 for a two-bed flat, and the end of tenancy cleaning team comes with its own kit after a 50% deposit. Carpets done during the same visit cost £36 for a living room and £29 per bedroom.
Visitor permits and parking zones in Haringey
Haringey’s 43 controlled parking zones keep very different hours. The Wood Green Inner Zone is the longest, fourteen hours every day, and the Highgate zones among the shortest, two weekday hours. Most zones make no charge outside their hours and on bank holidays. Visitor permits are virtual. Residents buy them per hour or per day, with a limit of two day permits live at the same time, and they cover resident bays and shared-use bays; pay-by-phone-only bays are excluded.
A one-day ‘permission to park’ permit for a single named street is sold to tradespeople, though it is no good in the stadium’s event zones on Tottenham Hotspur event days. A cleaner arriving by bus avoids the question entirely, and teams that drive put the parking they pay on your bill, at cost, to a maximum of £40.
Domestic cleaning in Crouch End
Flats house 74.5% of households in Crouch End ward, and over a third (34.1%) are in a converted or shared house, one and a half times the borough’s 22.8%. The streets round the Broadway are mostly housing from the late 1800s and early 1900s. At the Broadway’s north end stands the Clock Tower of 1895, listed Grade II, and the Queens Hotel nearby is Grade II*; Crouch End became a conservation area on 25 October 1974. A converted two-bedroom flat usually takes 3 hours on a fortnightly visit at £24 an hour.
Parking is short and predictable. Zone A in Crouch End applies on weekday mornings, ten till twelve, and zone B on weekday afternoons, two till four, so the start time decides whether a cleaner who drives meets the controls at all. Crouch End ward sits outside the selective licensing scheme, leaving only HMO licensing for lets. Domestic cleaners for N8 conversions need the street door key or code as well as the flat key.
Domestic cleaning in Harringay
Harringay ward has Haringey’s highest private renting, 50.2% of households. By 1900 there was no unbuilt land left in Harringay, and most of its flats today are conversions of its largely Victorian houses; 37.7% of households live in one. The streets west of Green Lanes form the Harringay Ladder, named for the ladder pattern they make on a map. The ward is inside Haringey’s selective licensing area, which requires a licence for most private lets.
A flat-share in a Ladder conversion is a 3-hour weekly visit, mostly kitchen and bathroom. Green Lanes Zone A covers six days, Monday to Saturday, 8am till half past six, but its pay-and-display bays only take payment from ten till four; Zone B keeps the same hours on weekdays only. If a move-out team will drive, let the office know your zone. A studio’s move-out clean is £156, a three-bed’s £339 and the oven adds from £31. Regular domestic cleaning for sharers is one booking for the household, with the rooms agreed on the call.
Domestic cleaning in Highgate
No conservation area in Haringey is older than Highgate’s, designated on 21 December 1967, and its appraisal comes in two parts. On Haringey’s side, converted or shared houses hold 28.1% of households and detached houses 6.8%, compared with 3.9% detached borough-wide. A detached house with several bathrooms is a long visit for one cleaner, five or six hours each week. Ironing can be added: ask on the call how much time to allow, or use the ironing service for a separate booking.
N6 is shared between four councils, Barnet, Islington, Camden and Haringey, so a Highgate address can come under another council for parking and licensing; give the full postcode when you ring. Haringey’s Highgate and Highgate Station zones apply for two hours each weekday, 10am until noon, with one exception: Priory Gardens is controlled Monday to Saturday through the working day. Highgate ward is outside the selective licensing scheme. Domestic cleaning in N6 runs on the household’s own products.
Domestic cleaning in Hornsey
Hornsey ward splits three ways: purpose-built flats house 40.7% of households, converted houses 25.8% and terraces 24.8%, and only 5.7% live in semis or detached houses. Two conservation areas carry Hornsey’s name, neither with an adopted appraisal: the High Street one dates from 18 February 1980, the Water Works and Filter Beds one from 29 November 1994. A terraced house of three bedrooms is a four-hour weekly visit; a purpose-built flat, 3.
Of Hornsey’s three parking zones, the North one runs a full weekday, 8am to half past six; North East is four midday hours on weekdays; South just 11 until 1. Check which applies before booking a one-off clean, charged at £26 for each cleaner hour with two cleaners at least, plus £30, from £186; the one-off and deep cleaning page explains the difference. N8 stretches over Crouch End, Harringay and Stroud Green as well, so the postcode alone does not place you in Hornsey ward. Domestic cleaning there depends on a regular cleaner covering your street.
Domestic cleaning in Muswell Hill
Muswell Hill went up in a hurry. Between 1896 and 1913, starting with Queens Avenue and Princes Avenue, the suburb’s buildings and streets were laid out, and Haringey’s appraisal calls it essentially Edwardian. The red brick parades on the Broadway rise mostly three storeys, and the flats over the shops are entered by shared doors set between the shopfronts; tell the office which door is yours. Owners make up 57.5% of households and 17.3% live in semis, well above the borough.
A four-bedroom Edwardian family house is five hours a week. When it needs a reset first, book a deep clean; with two cleaners the price starts at £198. If the kitchen has a 90cm range, an oven clean for it is from £143. Parking zones here are short: two hours at midday every day in the Muswell Hill zone, four weekday hours in Muswell Hill West and two weekday hours in Fortis Green. Muswell Hill and Fortis Green wards are both outside selective licensing, and the Rookfield Estate has an Article 4 direction. Domestic cleaners in N10 come on a fixed weekday.
Domestic cleaning in Tottenham
Tottenham is the largest area here, eight wards and 40,645 households, 56.8% of them in flats; 35.0% rent privately and 34.0% socially. Arts and Crafts cottages fill Tower Gardens, in White Hart Lane ward, which the London County Council built from 1903 to 1915 as one of its three pioneering cottage estates; the estate was made a conservation area in 1978, with an Article 4 direction from 1981. Broadwater Farm, finished in the early 1970s on 18 hectares by Lordship Recreation Ground, has over a thousand homes in concrete towers and blocks. A Tower Gardens cottage or a Broadwater Farm flat each fit a 3-hour weekly visit.
Stadium events matter. For any event with a crowd forecast above 10,000, the High Road shuts two hours before the start, from Bromley Road up to White Hart Lane, and further roads follow in phases; residents with permits get through checkpoints. Book a deep clean or move-out team on another day. All eight Tottenham wards used here are in the selective licensing area. Five conservation areas make up the Tottenham High Road Historic Corridor, of which North Tottenham, from 1972, is the oldest. Domestic cleaning in N17 and N15 begins with a call to confirm a regular cleaner is free.
Domestic cleaning in Wood Green
The Artizans, Labourers and General Dwellings Company put up Noel Park’s cottage-style terraces for the families of skilled workers, roughly from 1881 to 1913. An Article 4 direction dated 18 February 1983 restricts changes to the fronts, roofs and front boundaries of these houses. Wood Green Common, a conservation area from 1976, is two and three storey terraces from the late Victorian and Edwardian years around Avenue Gardens. Terraces hold 25.6% of households across Noel Park and Woodside wards, and a Noel Park house with two or three bedrooms needs 3 or four hours each week.
Inner Zone controls run fourteen hours a day, every day, 8am to 10pm. The Outer Zone stops at half past six and rests on Sundays, and Woodside rests at weekends. Between Bounds Green Road and Turnpike Lane, the A105 High Road was approved as a 24-hour red route on 13 October 2026, with works from 22 October, and a vehicle may stop there only in a signed parking or loading bay. Both wards are in the selective licensing area. When carpets need more than the weekly hoover, a carpet clean by hot water extraction costs £41 for a flight of stairs and £36 for a bedroom. Domestic cleaning in N22 runs on your own products.
Questions about domestic cleaning in Haringey
Can a cleaner get to me on a Tottenham Hotspur event day?
On foot or by bus, usually yes, but the High Road closes between Bromley Road and White Hart Lane two hours ahead of a big event and other roads close in phases. The tradesperson ‘permission to park’ permit does not work in the event zones on those days. Move a team booking to another day if you can.
Is my Haringey address in the selective licensing area?
Fourteen wards are in it until 17 November 2027: the eight Tottenham wards, Noel Park, Woodside, Harringay, Hermitage & Gardens, St Ann’s and Bounds Green. Crouch End, Highgate, Hornsey and Muswell Hill are not. Shared homes outside mandatory licensing come under the borough-wide additional designation wherever they are.
How do notice and cancellations work with a Haringey cleaner?
Settling in takes the first four weeks; from week five, 14 days’ notice lets either side stop. A cancellation inside two working days costs half the visit. Regular cleaners are not available in every Haringey postcode, and the office looks yours up while you are on the phone; every rate is on the prices page.
